Most people pick up the basics of sharpening oscillating blades, reciprocating blades and hole saws within minutes. Drill bits and circular saw blades—including miter and table saw blades—can take a little more practice.

No. Sharpening removes material. Blade condition, remaining cutting material and damage determine whether a blade is still suitable to sharpen and use. Bi-metal blades have a finite high-speed-steel tooth strip; carbide teeth must have enough sound material remaining.
