Why did we use an independent power supply instead of making a wall plug-in version of the JobSaver Pro sharpener? Several factors went into the decision. We couldn't find a similar size 115V motor to what we already use; otherwise, it would require a complete redesign of the sharpener and the manufacture and stocking of more parts. Using an independent power supply allows the sharpener to use cordless batteries. The power supply also offers more control over the speed, for operations where a user might prefer faster or slower grinding speeds (also, the power is somehow cleaner/smoother than battery power). For example, using the 60-degree side grinding wheel on bi-metal oscillating blades works great, but a slower speed makes it easier to avoid removing too much bi-metal material.
