This is the current replacement for the diamond main grinding wheels with side grinder. Diamond coated grinding wheels are specifically for carbide blades. Replacement grinding wheels will come preloaded with ABEC-3 grade bearings.

These are typically in stock, however they do sell out occasionally. Contact us if you need to know a lead time for shipping it out.

If you have an early model without a side grinder shaft, then contact us first.

Common Questions:

Q: Can I buy this grinding wheel and swap it in and out of my CBN blade sharpener depending upon if I want to sharpen steel or carbide blades?

A: While the main grinding wheels are replaceable, they are not designed to be swapped in and out regularly to accommodate different blade materials.

Q: How do I replace the grinding wheel?

A: We will make a video about how to do it shortly. However, some will probably figure it out after simply opening the case.

Q: How long will these grinding wheels last?

A: Like about anything, it depends upon the user. Many will likely get years out of it and some heavy users will get many months. Ignoring directions will shorten the life.

Q: How can I get the most life out of it?

A: Here are some tips. Remove old oscillating blade teeth or at least any remaining sharp teeth points before creating new teeth. Avoid going too fast and pushing the blade in to the grinding wheel with a lot of force. Forcing a blade in faster than the grinding wheel can cut the metal creates a lot of excess heat and degrade the abrasive coating much faster. Only use diamond wheels for carbide and CBN for steel. The sharpener is designed for intermittent use. Use the grinder for 5 minutes or less per session and allow it to cool between sessions.

Q: What if the grinding wheel is tight when I install it?

A: When we switched grinding wheel manufactures around September 2024, the new grinding wheels came in slightly longer between the bearings. This can make for a tight fit in models prior to that date. If it appears too tight when installing won't spin easily, you may need to use a rotary tool and create a little more room to allow for the length.

How to replace the main grinding wheel on an original Tigers Teeth Sharpener (watch the entire video, first I talk about replacing the belt and then add how to change the wheel). There are two versions; the video below is for the Freedom version with the split grinding wheel body..the bottom video is for the previous generation sharpener.
